A Cabin in Tkarón:to

Toronto Metropolitan University
2016

Situated by a pond amidst Toronto’s natural ravines, this wood cabin strives for a harmonious balance between architecture and landscape.

The cabin is designed primarily to serve the research and residential needs of freshwater ecologists who frequent the area seasonally for research purposes. It features an open roof for researchers to observe the seasonal changes of the pond and a suspended deck which is attached to the cabin by tension rods. Hovering above the pond, the deck leaves the water undisturbed, while still allowing researchers to intimately engage with their research samples.
